SUNDAY!! Which means I’m here, as always. & of cause with a whole new blog post for you. So if you haven’t already guessed it by the title, then I’ve made a littl’ stack of books that I’d recommend you read during this Summer (I mean I’m not saying you have to read them ALL, it’s just inspo alright?) A quick disclaimer here; There’s definitely a running theme of “Coming of Age” or “Adulting” (not sure that’s an actual word, but we’ll go with it for now) So, sorry if you expected fantasy, political or instructive books (well, one of them is actually about culture… but I’m not saying more then that – you’ve got to read the post) Anyway, I’m rambling. Let’s get to it, shall we?
The Little Book Of HYGGE | Meik Wiking
I’ve already mentioned this book in like two other blog post (I am aware, thanks). But it’s just because it’s SUCH a good book. I absolutely loved reading it as a Dane and I think it’s even better to read it as a ‘foreigner’. It says so much about what it is being Danish and some reasons to why we’ve won the title as The World’s Happiest People. The book also has loads of ideas on what to do on a rainy day or on a lovely warm summer night. All in all I truly recommend you read this book!
Holding Up The Universe | Jennifer Niven
I mean it doesn’t take Einstein to realise that the title of the book on the picture is not the same as the one I’ve just written. BUT, that’s because I read it in Danish so I do apologize for any slight of disorientation (haha) Anyway, just like the book above and all of the below; I really loved reading this book. Just like her other book (All The Bright Places) Then it switches between two different characters experiencing a lot of the same things but in different perspectives. They both have major struggles; Jack don’t recognize faces not even his own or his mother’s. Lilly was known for being America’s fattest teenager (not anymore though) & she also fights a very bad anxiety. Then the two of them meet, not in the most romantic way thought. However, there’s a spark between them since day one. And that’s all you get from me, you’ll have to buy book to know the rest.
Girl Online #1, #2 & #3 | Zoe Sugg
Yes, I am well aware that this is more than one book (thanks) But, I mean it’s a series so I couldn’t just recommend one. I absolutely love these books! One thing is that it’s Zoe that has written them, she’s like such an inspiration to me and has been it since like 2014. Another thing is the main character; Penny. I have a very special ‘relation’ to her, mainly because she remind me SO much of myself – like it’s actually crazy sometimes. The series is all about Penny’s life which includes both horrible and amazing friendships, anxiety at it’s worst and falling in love in New York…. I mean just go and buy them all! Another reason why I love them so much is because I read them at age 13, 14 & 15 – So Penny has kind of had an influence on my early teens.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower | Stephen Chbosky
OMG! (yup, that’s how I apparently decided to start this review….) This book, if you havn’t read it or even heard of it then what are you doing with your life (don’t take that too personal – I’m sure you’re a great human even if you haven’t heard of it) Again my love for this book and this character is like beyond everything. The main character is called Charlie and the book is written a bit like a diary or it’s actually letters. So at every 6th page (or something like that) you ‘receive’ a new letter from Charlie telling you all about his very NON-high-school-musical-goals-high-school-life. Basically he’s very insecure and shy – but then one day he decides to make a move and try to make friends. And how that goes you’ll have to buy the book or watch the film to know (but for God’s sake read the book if you can, before you watch the film)
Beautiful Broken Things | Sara Barnard
I’ve realised that there’s definitely a running theme of my love to the main characters… I guess that’s what it takes for me to love a book. Anyway, like the Girl Online books then this one is set in Brighton – which ‘fun fact’ is where I want to live one day. I read this book at the start of the year, so the details has slightly vanished from my brain. But, I do remember that it’s about three girls friendship (yawn*… NO, it’s not one those standard friendship books with a happy ending) It’s about growing to become an ‘adult’, anxiety for missing out and for ending up doing things we’ll regret, being too protected by parents and not being protected at all. Yes, two of these girls are like the opposite of each other, but end up being really good friends because they both admire each other. Just like all the other books – GO GO GO n’ buy it!
So, that’s all I’ve got for you in this post. If you enjoyed it or found it in somewhat helpful then please give it a like to let me know. Also please let me know in the comment:
Have you read any of these books? (if so what did you think) Is there any of them that really speaks to you? Which books do you recommend me & everyone else in this littl’ community to read during Summer 2018?
I post every single Sunday, so if you don’t wanna miss out on the fun, then make sure to follow my blog or subscribe with your e-mail. Until next Sunday, I hope you have a wonderful week. (Uh spoiler alert* – next Sunday there’s a collab involved….)

And I want to know how the Danish manage to stay happy! If you ever wanted to write about on my blog, I would love to share. xx

My best friend is obsessed with Perks and I read her copy and it was so nice to see all the bits she underlined because of how it touched her. I’m really curious about reading Holding Up the Universe because the title draws to me. I’m actually keeping all of these in mind.
(Also, I’m obsessed with your blog’s aesthetic. It’s beautiful and minimalistic and you genuinely seem like an all-around rad person.)
