Hello lovelies! How is your Sunday going so far? Feel free to tell me in the comments. Now, today I’m going to be talking about; why the heck I started a blog? It’s a subject I havn’t talked about on my blog but I’ve told quiet a lot of people in real life. So, grab a cup of tea and biscuits to follow and keep on scrolling! (I mean if you prefer coffee and a croissant, then you’re allowed to grab that as well)
So, where to start… Well, I started my blog in September the 30th 2016 (yes, I know that’s a very long time ago) My first ever blog post was an Autumn makeup look, which might come as a surprise because now a days it’s kind of rare that I do a beauty related post. I started blogging thinking I would write about style, beauty and food (basically write about what ‘all the others’ did) Like there’s nothing wrong with that at all! It’s just that my blog is called my name aka ‘Karen Wodstrup’ and she’s a lot more than fashion and makeup (I can tell you that much) Now, months past and I probably did one post a month and I would get a few likes as well.
Then it hit me (not literally thought haha) I looked at the posts I’d done the past year and though: “Well, you can find a million other posts like these. Nothing really makes this my blog”. I thought about this is October last year, which was also the time where I was SO down. Like I was sad all the time and I would cry every single day. That’s when I thought; Hey, maybe I can help others by talking about this. And so I did. I made my first proper personal blog post. The support was so amazing, I’d never seen people interacting with me like they did on that blog post. So I was like: Well, if I can help this many people ‘just’ by talking about difficult topics then I might as well continue doing it. So I started my series called ‘Coffee Chats’ and let me tell you ever since I did, I’ve never loved blogging as much as I do now. The support and feedback I get on those posts is beyond incredible.
This was also the point were my amount of readers started growing, and I felt like I was building this littl’ community which were just all so supportive. And nothing has really changed about that ever since. I LOVE that I can discuss, help and interact with people which live on the other side of this globe. In a way I’m actually really proud of that.
It’s so funny because when I started this blog no one except a few of my very close friends knew about it. I was SO SO SO scared of people knowing. And now, I’m a bit like; Well, why was I so scared? I honestly wish I could give a proper answer to that, but I really can’t. I think I was just an insecure 14 year old girl, afraid of what the world’s reaction would be. Which I really do get, because you’re literally delivering and exposing a side of you for people to judge. And that my friend is scary AF, especially when your confidence level is a solid -2. However, I’ve grown a lot since then and I think I’m peaking when it comes to confidence (which I BTW also mentioned in last weeks post)
To sum things up, then I think my answer to Why Did I Start Blogging? Is, that the answer has changed from when I actually started to now and why I keep on blogging. If you’d asked me in 2016 I would have said; Because I’m obsessed with makeup and flat lay photos. And now it would be; Because I love helping and interacting with people. It’s still so amazing to have common hobbies such as bullet journaling, beauty products and so. But it’s even more amazing to have common difficulties such as anxiety, confidence issues and talk about them! Like high-five and well done us!!!!
So yeah, that’s it. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post and getting a little wiser on why I’m still blogging. If that’s the case then feel free to like this post, and let me know in the comments:
Why did you start blogging? Has your answer changed as well? And also how are you feeling ATM?
If you don’t wanna miss out on next Sunday’s fun, then make sure to follow my blog or subscribe by e-mail. Until next Sunday – Have a wonderful week!!

Boredom. Boredom made me start my blog. Why I continued blogging, I’m not so sure… Haha! Perhaps it’s boredom, too. At the moment, I feel like deleting my blog.
Anyhow, this is a great read! 🙂

Thank you so much! NO, don’t delete your blog – the poetry you do is really motivating and inspiring. If you don’t feel like blogging atm then just take a littl’ break, and then maybe you’ll return – just don’t delete it please : ) Thanks for reading!

I LOVE THIS SO SO MUCH! I’m honestly so glad you stuck with blogging because you’re one of my favourite bloggers and I love your lil corner of the internet. I definitely agree with you in that my reason for STARTING a blog and my reason for CONTINUING to blog are completely different… When I started out, I actually had a WRITING blog so I was just sharing tips for world building and character sheets, and then it turned into this really lovely community where I just wanted to share all my everyday thoughts ❤ xxx

I started blogging four years ago, back in 2014, when I was around ten. Most of my posts were horrible and about some stupid game, so I never really built up a following until recently (probably in the past year or so) when I gave my whole blog a revamp and started writing about things I really care about!

My Sunday is going great and I hope yours is lovely too 💕 I started blogging because I love writing but I don’t write as much as I should, so it forced me to just jot down my feelings/experiences.

I can really relate to this post. I wanted to blog for years, but felt so scared and worried about putting my thoughts out there. When I began, I went straight for writing about beauty and fashion. But like you, I wanted to share more, and started putting my personal thoughts out there. It’s amazing when you get a great response back, and I think the WordPress community inspire me to keep going. Great post! 🙂

I love this post! I was definitely the same way where I was always scared about my blog and only told a few close friends but I love what I blog about and think it’s a big part of who I am and I shouldn’t close that off. I also love your pants in the second pic!!

I started blogging in 2016 on WordPress, but not on this blog! My previous blog was a mess and it didn’t feel too serious, so I didn’t take it seriously. I started it when I was studying creative writing in college, and I wanted a place to upload the pieces from my class!
Then, I started this blog in March 2017 with only one post, until I picked it up again in February 2018. This time round, I wanted to get back into writing as a hobby and get a little more serious! So here we are!

I loved reading this Karen! Reminds me of why I started blogging – also to help people. My main reason is to get everyday conversations going about mental health to normalise it 🙂 lovely post and great insight into your blog!

[ Smiles ] So far, my Sunday has been fabulous.
I started blogging somewhere around 2006; it all started with Blogger.
A few years after, I went over to WordPress.
Then I left WordPress and I went back to Blogger.
Recently, I left Blogger and I created a new blog here on WordPress.
For the record, I have no intentions of ever returning to Blogger.
It is grat to be back home!

I started my blog many moons ago (think 2014ish) on a completely different site and domain. I wanted somewhere to express myself and interact with others. However I soon fell out of love with that blog but since starting up again on a new site with my current blog, I am LOVING it! Sure I still have a small following but I’m proud of when I’ve created and love chatting with the people who read my content. I believe blogging brings people together. I love that you have found yourself and know what you love and want to write about, your blog (for me) is one of the best out there xx
